Karen is a proud Calgarian with a passion for mental health and social justice for all. She is an  award-winning leader and public speaker, who takes great delight in encouraging learning with laughter wherever possible.

Karen Gallagher-Burt
With a Master of Social Work, specializing in not-for-profit leadership, her skills have developed further while working with a number of local organizations – United Way,  Distress Centre, and Canadian Mental Health Association being notable contributors.

It could be easily said that Karen knows a thing or two about helping kids! With a focus on helping those who have had troubles in their youth. Her experience is measurable, having fostered 44 children over the span of 20 years.

Karen has served on numerous boards, with highlights that include serving as a Commissioner with the Calgary Police Services and as a Director on the Alberta Law Foundation.

In her spare time, Karen enjoys officiating weddings as a marriage commissioner, and glamping with her life partner of 36 years.
